The 42nd Gee Bee Tournament will start with nine bouts today

The 42nd edition of the Gee Bee Tournament will start with nine preliminary contests in Finland’s capital in Helsinki today.

The Technical Meeting and the Official Draw confirmed the most important numbers, the competition schedule, the protocols, the rules, the weigh-in details and other competition related information.

Boxers at the women’s lightweight (60kg), men’s featherweight (57kg), welterweight (67kg), light middleweight (71kg), middleweight (75kg), and heavyweight (92kg) will be in actions in the first day of boxing.

The Boxing Refugee Team, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Chinese Taipei, and Wales confirmed are the participating nations in the 42nd Gee Bee Tournament.

Altogether 20 female and 45 male boxers will compete for the titles in the new edition of the Gee Bee Tournament.

Chinese Taipei’s Asian Games runner-up, Lai Chu En, Boxing Refugee Team’s indy Ngamba, and Wales’ Commonwealth Games winner Rosie Eccles have already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games among the participants.

Sweden’s Hadi Hadrous is No.2 in his homeland at the men’s featherweight (57kg) behind their Olympian Nebil Ibrahim and the promising boxer will open the Gee Bee Tournament against Finland’s Bengin Vasek.

Czech Republic’s Kelvin Soqeussa claimed a medal at the GB Open Boxing Tournament this January and his contest against Finland’s European Championships competitor Benjamin Eriksson could be an exciting one at the light middleweight (71kg).

Germany’s Alexander Okafor recovered from his injury and he will be making his comeback at the Gee Bee Tournament in Helsinki. The German heavyweight (92kg) boxer will compete against Sweden’s veteran Gabriel Richards in the quarter-final stage today.

Sweden’s best boxer, the multiple medallist from big events, Agnes Alexiusson will also start her campaign on Day1, she will meet Czech Republic’s European Championships silver medallist Lenka Bernardova at the women’s lightweight (60kg).
