Agnes Alexiusson is the best female boxer at the 42nd Gee Bee Tournament

Sweden’s Agnes Alexiusson was named as the Best Female Boxer of the 42nd Gee Bee Tournament in Helsinki following her impressive performance in the entire competition.

The Boxing Refugee Team, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Chinese Taipei, and Wales confirmed were the participating nations in the 42nd Gee Bee Tournament.

Altogether 20 female and 45 male boxers participated for the titles in the new edition of the Gee Bee Tournament.

Finland’s first female finalist, Laura Myllymaeki tried to keep the distance against England’s Kelsey Oakley but her 21-year-old rival was too quick in the first round of their light flyweight (50kg) title contest. Oakley’s best period was the second and she earned England’s first title in the fourth competition day.

Sweden’s Sara Svensson is a 20-year-older boxer than her final opponent at the women’s bantamweight (54kg), Teresa Maekinen of Finland. The young Finnish overcame her neighbouring rival in the attacks in the first and rounds more times therefore the 19-year-old talent won their final today.

Sweden’s No.1, Agnes Alexiusson is in top shape in this event and she landed her single shots with perfect timing in her lightweight (60kg) final against Netherlands’ Youth World Champion Maud Van der Toorn and she won her next tournament title. Alexiusson proved that she has strong potential in the upcoming 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event to win a spot for Paris.

Germany’s Leonie Mueller eliminated Wales’ Olympian Rosie Eccles in the last four and she used her longer reach well against Netherlands’ Luna Beeloo at the welterweight (66kg) final. The 25-year-old German kept her younger Dutch opponent on long and she won an important preparation tournament.
