Top class finals were held in the Duisenkul Shopokov Memorial Tournament

Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan shared the gold medals at the 46th edition of the Duisenkul Shopokov Memorial Tournament Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan today.

Sultan Asankul Uulu is one of the smallest boxers at the minimumweight (48kg) in the whole world but he has the speed and the punching power as well. Russia’s Volodya Mnatsakanyan did not underestimate the Kyrgyz boxer and tried to keep Asankul Uulu on long today with successes today.

Kyrgyzstan’s Ryspek Bektenov was member of the junior and youth national teams in the late 2010s and the 23-year-old boxer has now enough experience to win top bouts as well. The lightweight (60kg) talent worked from longer distance in the first and second rounds against Russia’s Arshak Tovmasyan. Bektenov exceeded the expectations but the Russian had the great finish to win their final contest by 3:2 split decision in Bishkek.

Kyrgyzstan’s Asian Youth Champion Almaz Orozbekov eliminated Zhakshylyk Talaybekov and he met another local youngster, Ikhtiyar Nishonov in the welterweight (67kg) final. The 19-year-old Orozbekov had shots from longer distance in the first round but Nishonov was in shape and he had the advantage after three minutes of fight. The bout finished in the second round when the ringside doctor stopped the bout due Orozbekov’s cut.

Kazakhstan’s first title in the Shopokov Memorial Tournament was achieved by Bakbergen Aliaskarov who walked over to the title of the middleweight (75kg) in Bishkek. His final opponent, Kyrgyzstan’s Daniel Abdurakhmanov was unable to box today due to the close date of the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships where he is a medal contender.

Russia’s Ramazan Karnukayev was the star of the super heavyweight (+92kg), he dominated all of his contests until the final bout in Bishkek. The experienced Russian controlled the exchanges against Kyrgyzstan’s new hope, Sarvorbek Saipov in the first round of the final and his shots were decisive in the second.
