Veocic, Ghadfa, Nikolic and Kiwan on the European thrones
Croatia’s Gabrijel Veocic, Spain’s Ayoub Ghadfa, Serbia’s Jovan Nikolic and Bulgaria’s Rami Kiwan are the new sensations in the European boxing map after the EUBC European Elite Boxing Championships which finished in Belgrade, Serbia.
Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Ireland, Croatia, Moldova and Spain shared finally the gold medals in the European Elite Boxing Championships.
Russia’s Edmond Khudoyan won the first final in the European Elite Boxing Championships, he had a clear success over Armenia’s Baregham Harutyunyan at the minimumweight (48kg).
Turkey’s Samet Gumus has already qualified for the Paris Olympics through the European Games and his aggressive style of boxing paid off against Hungary’s lone male finalist, Attila Bernath at the flyweight (51kg) which was a close contest.
Russia’s Eduard Savvin robbed into the world of boxing in 2017 when he was a youth boxer. The 24-year-old Russian had the strong game plan in the final against Bulgaria’s European Games winner Javier Ibanez and surprisingly his hand was raised.
Serbia’s Jovan Nikolic is the new surprise of the men’s light middleweight (71kg), he boxed over his previous limit with 200% performance in the European Championships and he defeated Georgia’s Eskerkhan Madiev in one of the next hectic finals.
Bulgaria’s Rami Kiwan has qualified for the Paris Olympics through the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event and he continued the winning path in Belgrade where he had the tough performance against Russia’s Dzhambulat Bizhamov.
Croatia’s Gabrijel Veocic earned a silver medal in the 2023 European Games and he switched that into a title at the light heavyweight (80kg) in Belgrade. The Croatian was dominant against Serbia’s Rastko Simic in the final and bagged his nation’s first title in this weight class.
Spain’s Ayoub Ghadfa Drissi El-Aissaoui, who joined the national team in 2018, was seeded as No.1 at the super heavyweight (+92kg) and he smashed Serbia’s Dusan Veletic in the final of the king category.
