The Elite National Champion Dorjnyambuu Ganbold is Mongolia’s best U22 boxer in Astana

Mongolia’s Dorjnyambuu Ganbold proved his superb skills in the quarter-finals of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan today.

Kazakhstan’s southpaw Kenzhe Muratuly replaced the World Champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay in their U22 national team in the flyweight (51kg). The local boxer had a very difficult job against Tajikistan’s Elite National Champion Mekhroj Shafiyev who used strong footwork in this contest. The 21-year-old Tajik found the holes in Muratuly’s defence but his last round was not enough to turn back their tight quarter-final bout.

Turkmenistan’s Alisher Orazbayev earned his first ASBC medal in 2019 as a schoolboy talent and he tried to use his technical skills to keep the best range against Philippines’ Flint Jara today. The 19-year-old Turkmen bantamweight (54kg) boxer changed his style twice within the first round but Jara’s counter-punches were favoured by the judges.

Mongolia’s Dorjnyambuu Ganbold is their best U22 boxer in the squad, he is the Elite National Champion at the featherweight (57kg) and he tried to control the quarter-final against Iran’s Nima Bayati immediately. The 21-year-old Mongolian had beautiful technical skills in this contest again and his technical skills decided their quarter-final bout in Astana.

Kazakhstan’s Yerassyl Tankay had longer hands than Turkmenistan’s Azizbek Matyakubov but he had difficulties in the first round of their light welterweight (63.5kg) bout. After the first equal round, Tankay landed his powerful body shots in the second round which decided their quarter-final and delivered a stoppage for the Kazakh boxer.

Uzbekistan’s Abdullokh Madaminov is a new member in their U22 team with plenty of previous experiences and he dictated the tempo against Iran’s Amirhossein Pishro. The Uzbek kept the control in the second and third rounds as well therefore he deserved to win the guaranteed medal at the light welterweight (63.5kg).
