The two-time World Champion Amy Broadhurst will strengthen Team GB in Bangkok

The 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event is the last chance for all of the boxers to qualify for the Paris Olympics and many of the teams have fixed their line-ups including Great Britain.

The 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event will be held in the huge metropolis in Bangkok, Thailand from May 24 until June 2 where the Huamark Indoor Stadium is named as the official venue.

Altogether 51 boxers will earn their quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games through Bangkok and record number of nations and athletes have registered to take part.

The High Performance Team of GB Boxing have selected eight boxers to compete in the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Bangkok. Five of their boxers, Charley Davison, Rosie Eccles, Chantelle Reid, Patrick Brown and Delicious Orie all qualified for Paris through the previous two quota events.

One of the surprises of their line-ups is Amy Broadhurst, a former Irish boxer, the two-time female World Champion who holds also a British passport, switched to Team GB and she will be aiming for a quota in Bangkok. The powerful ex-Irish girl who has English father, moved down to the lightweight (60kg) in the previous months.

The 22-year-old Savannah Stubbley (50kg) and the former European Junior Champion Elise Glynn (57kg) are their further female boxers in the squad. Glynn won the USA International Invitational Tournament on April and she will be a strong favourite also in the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

Kiaran MacDonald, the European Championships silver medallist, also did not qualify for the Olympic Games yet and the flyweight (51kg) boxer will make a last attempt to make it happen in Thailand’s capital.

Owain Harris-Allan, the Welsh boy, impressed in the last qualification event in Busto Arsizio where he was quarter-finalist at the featherweight (57kg). Patris Mughalzai (63.5kg), the European silver medallist Lewis Richardson (71kg) and Ramtin Musah (80kg) are their further squad members.
