Sonja Vuksic and Zhanarbek Khuanyshuly are the best boxers at the 8th Junior Nations Cup

The 8th edition of the Junior Nations Cup finished with its finals in Vrbas where Serbia’s Sonja Vuksic and Kazakhstan’s Zhanarbek Khuanyshuly were awarded the Best Boxers Trophies.

The Tournament Director of the 8th Junior Nations Cup was Serbia’s ITO, Mr. Jovan Panic and Mr. Dragoljub Radovic worked as Technical Delegate.

Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, North Macedonia, Montenegro, host Serbia and Panama were the participating 10 nations in the new edition of the international event.

Altogether 26 female and 73 male boxers competed in the Junior Nations Cup in Vrbas, Serbia where seven countries shared the gold medals.

Bulgaria’s Yanko Iliev, their best junior talent in the national team, opened the day of the finals with a success over Serbia’s Luka Katic at the bantamweight (54kg) and he proved his progress in all aspects of boxing.

The first female winner of the 8th Junior Nations Cup was Greece’s Paraskevi Tsakalelli who had a tight final against Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Asia Turkovic at the women’s featherweight (57kg) and her opponent could make a revenge in the upcoming European Junior Boxing Championships on home soil.

Kazakhstan’s Sofia Vashchenko and Croatia’s Agata Stajcer won their weight categories in Vrbas but one of the local talents, Sonja Vuksic earned the best female boxer award after beating her Croatian opponent at the middleweight (75kg).

Serbia’s Pavle Popovic made a surprise success at the pinweight (46kg) against Kazakhstan’s Yerassyl Maratov which was the host nation’s lone gold medal among the men part of the competition.

Kazakhstan sent a strong junior squad to Vrbas and seven of their male talents bagged the gold medals in this prestigious competition: Madiyar Abdykarimov (48kg), Bekarys Adilbay (50kg), Daniyar Akbisenov (57kg), Zhanarbek Khuanyshuly (63kg), Gayrat Iristayev (66kg), Daniyal Kaldykhan (75kg) and Yerubay Turlybay (80kg).
