Navarrete aiming to become world champion again

This Saturday, Emanuel Navarrete aims to secure a world title in a fourth weight class as he faces Denys Berinchyk for the vacant WBO lightweight title. Navarrete, a former champion in three weight categories, has competed in 14 world title bouts since 2018. He holds a (38-1-1 with 31 Kos) record, while Berinchyk, a 2012 Olympic silver medallist from Ukraine, holds an undefeated record of (18-0 with 9 Kos).

Navarrete is eyeing a chance to unify titles in a division that includes notable champions like Shakur Stevenson (WBC), Vasiliy Lomachenko (IBF), and Gervonta Davis (WBA). Navarrete shared his enthusiasm for high-level fights, emphasizing his readiness and confidence.

After a majority draw against Robson Conceicao, where Navarrete was outlanded despite scoring two knockdowns, he underwent a hand surgery but is now fully fit and eager to show his determination.

Berinchyk, is making his U.S. debut and comes off a unanimous decision victory over Anthony Yigit on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois heavyweight world title fight. Navarrete acknowledges his opponent’s threat but is prepared for the challenge.

The bout is set for Pechanga Arena in San Diego.
