Bacskai retires as WBO European champion

Balasz Bacskai (17-0) retired from boxing and WBO European champion. 36-year-old stopped Kim Poulsen of Denmark (32-7) in the third round in the fight for WBO Europe title in super-middle. It was the last fight of illustrious career of Bacskai. He retires undefeated. The belt around his waist was put by boxing legend Evander Holyfield, who was the star guest of the show promoted by New School Promotion.

Bacskai made his professional boxing debut as part of Felix Promotion in June 2017 winning the Hungarian title against Norbert Harcsa. During the career he fought in super-welterweight winning WBO Inter-Continental title and also IBO International title.

As amateur he was European champion in 2010.

In the Friday night show (24 May) promoted by New School Promotion where three WBO title fights and one Hungarian title fight.

Mate Kis (23-1-2) won the vacant WBO Global super-middleweight title defeating Zeljko Stegic (21-2). Stegic retired in second round, after having had deducted two points for hitting with head.

In the other title fight Mikkel Nielsen (13-2) scored an upset beating Renato Egedi (20-2-2) by TKO in second round and claimed WBO European middleweight title.

Csonge Botond won the Hungarian title in welterweight stopping Adrian Orban in third round.
