Paraschiv, Williams, Colin and Ibarreche won their openers in Bangkok

The bouts of the Round of 64 at the men’s light welterweight (63.5kg) were on the agenda at the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Bangkok, Thailand on Session 5.

Moldova’s Alexandru Paraschiv reached several top results in the recent European Boxing Championships and he was only one step away to get a quota for Paris. The Moldovan light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer tried to keep the best fighting distance against Antigua & Barbuda’s No.1, Alston Ryan and he succeeded in the afternoon session.

Mauritius’ Louis Richarno Colin is one of the oldest competitors in the entire 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event but he has still the speed to do his same style of boxing as in the past. The All Africa Games winner was a hard target for Guyana’s Joel Williamson and he began his campaign successfully in Bangkok.

Germany’s David Gkevorgkian has excellent technical skills, his beautiful style of boxing guaranteed his success over Honduras’ Brayan Salgado at the light welterweight (63.5kg) before one of the European stars, Bulgaria’s Radoslav Rosenov eliminated a Czech teenager, David Karbas in this weight class.

China’s new addition to their elite national team, Pan Jinxiang was better in the first round than Romania’s European U22 Champion Robert Eusebiu Jitaru and he had the advantage on the scorecards. The Romanian light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer turned up the heat and his great turnaround delivered a stoppage for him in the second round.

Croatia’s Filip Poturovic is a 27-year-old experienced boxer at the light welterweight (63.5kg) but in the recent three years he had poor results in the international competitions and also in the professional world. The Croatian was not able to keep the full rhythm against Aruba’s Fabian Anthoine Williams and he suffered a loss to the Caribbean debutant.

Spain’s Oier Ibarreche replaced Adrian Thiam and Salvador Flores in the national team and the 21-year-old talent used his technical advantage to beat Israel’s Ahmad Shtiwi.
