Bivol stops Zinad, will face Beterbiev on October 12

Dmitry Bivol (23-0) defended WBA and IBO World light-heavyweight titles, stopping Libya’s Malik Zinad (22-1) in sixth round on Saturday night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Zinad accepted the fight at late notice after Artur Beterbiev had to cancel because of injury.

Bivol dropped Zinad in first round with a three-punch combination and was outboxing him. In the sixth round he rocked Zinad with a strong left and followed up with a barrage of punches so the referee halted the fight.

“I believe that my power is every time with me,” Bivol said. “I didn’t have doubts, of course [my] power [is] with me.”

After the fight it was announced the new date of Bivol vs Artur Beterbiev. Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority said the new date for the undisputed light-heavyweight title will be October 12.
