The Portimao Box Cup was a huge success with 107 final bouts in Portugal

The Portimao Box Cup was a record-breaking event in Portugal and altogether 107 final bouts concluded in the fourth session.

Portugal hosts more event every year, their Braga Open, the Algarve Box Cup, the Odivelas Box Cup and the Portimao Box Cup are all increasing international competitions.

The Portuguese female and male boxers are also progressed well in the recent two years, their best talents won preliminary contests in all of the three qualification events in Poland, in Italy and in Thailand as well.

The organizer of the Portimao Box Cup, Mr. Carlos Andre Reis arranged an outstanding event in Portugal and teams enjoyed the friendly environment and the huge number of opponents.

The competition was held for both genders and also for all of the age groups, the schoolgirls, the schoolboys, junior, youth and elite boxers as well.

The organizers arranged three rings in the competition venue due to the seriously high number of participants. The boxers could compete in the event based on their experiences and total number of bouts to give them fair play.

Marie Lee Shelby has several years of experience in the international stage and the English boxer defeated Spain’s Carmen Gonzalez at the women’s light flyweight (50kg) in an exciting bout.

Linda Desmond caused one of the surprises in the day of the finals when she defeated her Irish teammate, Zara Breslin at the women’s featherweight (57kg).

A former Youth World silver medallist, France’s 23-year-old Tallya Brillaux won the women’s middleweight (75kg) against another promising boxer, Raissa Argentieri.

The two-time European Youth bronze medallist Spaniard, Juan Pantoja won the next tight final in Portimao against Lucas Lemos Borges at the men’s featherweight (57kg).

Ruben Pineda Santos won the Group A at the busy men’s elite welterweight (67kg) while Spain’s Fernando Pino triumphed over Switzerland’s Jimmy Beckert in the Group B.
