The Olympic Hopes Tournament was held in Slovakia and supported the preparations for the main events
The Olympic Hopes Tournament was held for the junior, schoolboys and schoolgirls in Slovakia’s capital in Bratislava in the previous days.
Devinska Nova Ves was the host of the competition, which is located in Bratislava’s suburbs this time following the previous editions, took place in various cities.
The host Slovakians competed with impressive number of 43 boxers in the competition but Croatia, France, Hungary, Israel, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine also sent their delegations for the Olympic Hopes Tournament.
The European Junior Boxing Championships and the European Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships both will be held in Bosnia & Herzegovina this summer.
The Olympic Hopes Tournament delivered excellent opportunities for the teams to prepare against good boxers before their main European events.
The Slovakian girls had excellent results in the previous years and their Jessica Triebelova has qualified for the Olympic Games as well. The Slovakian junior girls such as Dominika Vnukova, Karolina Kollarova and Diana Pizurova all impressed in the competition.
Croatia’s experienced girl, Ana Jukicic has excellent technical skills and she proved her very best against Lithuania’s Ugne Vilte Pauliukonyte at the women’s junior featherweight (57kg).
Poland has fantastic junior female team, their Zuzanna Golebiewska (54kg), Wiktoria Kustosz (60kg), Oliwia Kummer (70kg) and Julia Toporowska (75kg) all succeeded in the Olympic Hopes Tournament.
The Hungarians impressed in the schoolboys part of the competition, their Adrian Burai (40kg) and Hunor Asztalos (52kg) both stopped their opponents and claimed the gold medals in Devinska Nova Ves.
Brajan Czarnecki (46kg) and Igor Jagiello (48kg) were the best Polish schoolboys in the event and among the host nation’s boys, Michael Kincel proved his very best.
