The Grand Prix Usti nad Labem is the next highlight in the boxing agenda

Following the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event, the next main elite competition will be held in the Czech Republic.

The 54th edition of the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem will be a World Boxing Challenge in the Czech Republic between June 11 and 16.

China, host Czech Republic, England, Germany, Mongolia, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Sweden and Wales are the participating countries in the new edition of the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem.

The Boxing Entries Check, the Technical Meeting and the Official Draw all will take place in the Hotel Bohemia today following the arrivals of the teams.

The competition period of the Grand Prix is June 12-15 and its venue is the Sport Hall Sluneta in Usti nad Labem which is located in the north part of the Czech Republic and it is an important railway junction and an industrial centre.

The first edition of the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem was held in 1968 when the local boxers and the team from East Germany earned all of the titles.

The fifth edition of the Grand Prix saw such impressive winners as Vaclav Hruby, Bohumil Nemecek and Ondrej Holoubek from the host nation’s team while Ryszard Mazur of Poland also succeeded at the heavyweight.

Cuba’s three-times Olympic Champion legend, Teofilo Stevenson won the 1980 edition of the Grand Prix in the Czech Republic when five of his teammates also claimed gold medals.

Another three-time Olympic Games winner Cuban, the heavyweight icon Felix Savon won the 1986, 1988, 1996 and the 2000 editions of the Grand Prix.

The last edition of the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem had 13 final contests in the Czech Republic on May 2023. Ukraine’s Tetiana Kob and Ireland’s Olympic Games winner Kellie Harrington won difficult final contests in the Grand Prix one year ago.
