The Paris Olympians impressed at the 2nd Grand Prix Brazil
Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Germany and Panama competed in the 2nd edition of the Grand Prix Brazil which was a specific Round Robin event in South America.
The Grand Prix Brazil supported the preparations of several boxers for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games including the top female and male hopefuls as well.
Brazil hosted the 1st edition of the Grand Prix in 2022 before multisport events and their management decided to arrange the new competition with friendly nations.
Beatriz Ferreira, the Tokyo Olympics silver medallist, is one of the aces in the Brazilian female team and she dominated her contests in the Grand Prix. The strong boxer stopped Germany’s Lutfiye Tutal in the first round of their lightweight (60kg) contest and she proved her outstanding Olympic potential.
Michael Trindade qualified for the Olympics through the Panamerican Games and the flyweight (51kg) boxer had the technical boxing knowledge to beat a young German, Miles Okay and another promising talent, Alan Ospino of Colombia.
Luiz Gabriel Oliveira Chalot is one of the medal contenders at the men’s featherweight (57kg) in the Paris Olympics and he has brilliant technical skills. The tall Brazilian used also his strength in the Grand Prix and knocked out Germany’s Metouchela Lukoki in a one-sided and quick contest.
Keno Machado, the World Championships silver medallist, qualified for his second Olympics and he is aiming for a medal at the heavyweight (92kg). The Brazilian destroyed Tyron Amo’s defence in the first round and he controlled all of the exchanges against his inexperienced rival in the Grand Prix.
Brazil’s Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Abner Junior Teixeira and Germany’s European U22 Champion Nikita Putilov knew each other well from training camps and competitions. The veteran Brazilian was slightly better this time in the best super heavyweight (+92kg) bout of the Grand Prix.
