Ten strong Brazilians will compete in Paris

The Brazilians have five women and five men boxers who qualified for the Paris Olympic Games through the three quota events.

Brazil competed in the Canberra International Meeting, the USA International Invitational Tournament, the Eindhoven Box Cup and in the Grand Prix Brazil this year as their preparations for the Paris Olympics.

Brazil named a 13-strong team to the last Panamerican Games and among them nine qualified for the Paris Olympics last October. Additionally, Luiz Gabriel Oliveira Chalot earned their tenth spot in the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Busto Arsizio.

Brazil achieved gold medals in boxing in the last two editions of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and in Tokyo as well.

The women’s team contains the Tokyo Olympic Games silver medallist and World Champion Beatriz Ferreira who will be the one of the favourites at the women’s lightweight (60kg) in Paris after her impressive pedigree in the recent years.

Carolina De Almeida (50kg) and Barbara Maria Dos Santos (66kg) both earned bronze medals in the Women’s World Boxing Championships and they impressed in the 2023 Panamerican Games as well.

Two further Brazilian girls such as the Tokyo Olympian tall Jucielen Romeu (57kg), and the veteran Tatiana Chagas (54kg) also qualified for Paris.

Wanderley Pereira (80kg) and the Tokyo Olympian Keno Marley Machado (92kg) both earned medals in the 2021 or the 2023 Men’s World Boxing Championships and the latter was highly competitive against all of the stars.

The Olympic Games bronze medallist Abner Junior Teixeira moved up to the super heavyweight (+92kg) and he has also strong potential in Paris.

The American Champion Luiz Gabriel Oliveira Chalot is the most progressed boxer in the national team with brilliant technical skills and he has medal expectations at the men’s featherweight (57kg).

Michael Douglas Trindade (51kg) has three years of experiences in the national team and surprisingly he has also qualified for the Olympics easily.
