Asbarov gets a 6-year ban

Back in October last year, a Russian domestic showdown took place between the tough Aleksei Papin (17-1) and the unknown Soslan Asbarov (4-0), with the latter surprisingly winning on points. However, Asbarov couldn’t celebrate his victory for long, as he failed a post-fight doping test with an undisclosed substance. The result of the fight was voided and RUSADA handed him a six-year ban, so as things stand the 32-year-old will not fight again until Christmas 2029. Papin, meanwhile, has picked up two victories, so there is a good chance he will be back in the cruiserweight rankings later this year.
