Benavidez will continue his career in light-heavyweight division
David Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) will continue his career in light-heavyweight division.
Promotion of Benavidez, Sampson Boxing, informed World Boxing Council that Benavidez will continue to fight in light-heavyweight division.
Benavidez will be mandatory challenger of the winner of the fight for undisputed title between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitrii Bivol.
Beterbiev will face Bivol on October 12 in Saudi Arabia.
“The WBC has just received a letter from @sampsonboxing exclusive promoter of @benavidez300 confirming that “The Mexican Monster” will continue his career as Lightheavyweight.He is confirmed as WBC 175 interim champion and as mandatory contender for the winner Beterbiev vs Bivol”, informed World Boxing Council.
Benavidez won WBC “Interim” light-heavyweight title on June beating via unanimous decision Oleksandr Gvozdyk. He was also mandatory challenger of Canelo Alvarez for WBC super-middleweight title, but decided to continue career in light-heavy.
