Shadrina, Teremoana, Sanford and Kovacs all succeeded in the Paris Olympics on Day3

Serbia’s Natalia Shadrina, Australia’s Teremoana Junior Teremoana, Canada’s Wyatt Sanford and Hungary’s Richard Kovacs all succeeded in the busy third competition day at the Paris Olympics.

Natalia Shadrina switched from Russia to Serbia and since then she claimed a silver at the European Games and a gold at the European Women’s Championships. The veteran lightweight (60kg) boxer had a comfortable success against Algeria’s Hadjila Khelif in the Round of 16 and she needs only one further step to win a medal in Paris.

Ecuador’s Maria Palacios exceeded the expectations in her opener when she defeated Sweden’s more experienced Agnes Alexiusson in the Round of 32 at the women’s lightweight (60kg). The South American continued her winning path against Australia’s Tyla McDonald with an excellent first round and she is also a quarter-finalist in Paris.

Canada’s Wyatt Sanford claimed a surprise gold medal at the Panamerican Games in Santiago de Chile and the light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer demonstrated his power in the Round of 16 against a Bulgarian opponent, Radoslav Rosenov.

Hungary’s Richard Kovacs had a disadvantage against Australia’s Tokyo bronze medallist Harry Garside but his rhythm change in the beginning of the second round was enough to turn back their light welterweight (63.5kg) bout and he will now meet France’s star, Sofiane Oumiha.

Ireland’s Kellie Harrington is the titleholder at the women’s lightweight (60kg) and following her gold medal in Tokyo, she has the strong chance to be a double champion in Paris. The 35-year-old Irish faced with another World Champion, Alessia Mesiano of Italy and she controlled all of the three rounds with superb performance.

The stars of the super heavyweight (+92kg) such as Uzbekistan’s Olympic Champion Bakhodir Jalolov and Australia’s Teremoana Junior Teremoana both amazed in the third competition day. Jalolov eliminated Norway’s Omar Shiha while the Aussie giant knocked out his Ukrainian opponent, Dmytro Lovchinskyi in Paris.
