Andy Ruiz Targets Parker After Big Baby
Former unified heavyweight world champion Andy Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) is aiming for a significant rematch with Joseph Parker, provided he overcomes Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller (26-1-1, 22 KOs) in his much-anticipated comeback fight at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday, August 3
“My immediate focus is on Jarrell Miller; God willing, we secure that win and then I’d love to revisit a fight with Joseph Parker,” said Ruiz. “I really want that rematch. Of course, I respect Jarrell Miller. Any fighter in the ring is dangerous. You can’t underestimate anyone. We need to be prepared and ready for anything. Securing the win is crucial.
“The key is to get the victory, get back into action, and prepare to face the top fighters. Personally, I’d like to have two fights against opponents in the top ten or fifteen. After this fight, I’ll take on anyone. I just want to fight the top guys. Joseph Parker is achieving great things right now; he’s beaten Wilder and Zhang. I’d love to fight him too.”
Reflecting on his recent challenges, Ruiz shared, “I’ve experienced a lot of ups and downs since my last fight against Luis Ortiz. I had shoulder surgery and dealt with some personal issues, but I’m back and ready to reclaim my title as a two-time heavyweight champion of the world.”
“I think this fight against Miller is good for me, especially since I haven’t been in the ring for 18 months. It’s a good test for my shoulder. I’m not saying Miller is an easy opponent; every fight is tough, and you can’t underestimate anyone. But I believe this is the perfect fight for my comeback.”
