Bakole stops Anderson, Ruiz-Miller end in a draw
Martin Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs) dropped Jared Anderson (17-1) three times on the way to a surprise stoppage victory on Saturday night in Los Angeles.
Bakole from beginning was in command of the fight. He dropped Anderson once in first round and twice in round five, before stopping him standing in fifth.
The fight was for WBO International and NABF heavyweight titles. The victory is expected to bring Bakole closer to a world title opportunity.
In the same event on Saturday night, former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz (35-2-1) had to content with a draw against Jarrell Miller (26-1-1).
After 12 rounds one judge saw Ruiz as winner 116:112 and two others scored the fight as draw, 114:114.
For Ruiz was the first fight since September 2022.
Both fights were in the event which was headlined by the fight between Terence Crawford and Israil Madrimov.
In the other undercard fight David Morrell (11-0) of Cuba, claimed WBA World light-heavyweight title defeating Radivoje Kalajdzic (29-3) via unanimous decision (117:111, 118:110 and 117:111).
