Crawford defeats Madrimov, becomes four-division champion

Terence “Bud” Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) defeated Israil Madrimov (10-1-1) of Uzbekistan on Saturday night in Los Angeles, to become a four-division champion.

Crawford won the WBA World super-welterweight title which was held by Madrimov and also WBO Interim World title.
All three judges saw him as winner, although with a small margin. Two judges scored the fight 115:113 and one of them 116:112, all in favor of Crawford.

Crawford had not fought since he stopped Errol Spence Jr in July 2023 to become undisputed welterweight champion. He was undisputed also in super-light division and held world titles also in lightweight.
Saturday’s victory could set up a potential fight between Crawford and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez which is reigning champion in super-middleweight division.
“You know what I say, if the money is right, we got to fight,” Crawford said immediately after the fight.
Madrimov believes he did very well against Crawford.

“I fought the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, and I believe I did enough because I was the champion,” Madrimov said. “I was controlling the rhythm and felt very comfortable inside the ring. I believe that I did really well.”
