Uzbekistan, China and Algeria shared the gold medals at the Paris Olympics today

Uzbekistan, China and Algeria shared the four gold medals in the thirteenth competition day at the Paris Olympics today.

Uzbekistan’s World Champion Asadkhudja Muydinkhudjayev and Mexico’s Panamerican Games winner Marco Verde advanced to the final of the men’s light middleweight (71kg). The battle of the youngsters delivered an impressive bout but the 23-year-old Uzbek controlled the first and second rounds well to build up a strong advantage on the judges’ scorecards. The Mexican came back to the business in the third round and he had a wonderful finish but Muydinkhudjayev’s advantage was strong enough to win the final.

China’s Asian Games winner Wu Yu and Turkey’s European Games gold medallist Busenaz Cakiroglu joined the finals of the women’s light flyweight (50kg). The Turkish boxer was silver medallist in the Tokyo Olympics and she wanted to take the title in Paris but the Chinese had the best game plan against her. Wu Yu overcame the Turkish boxer in the attacks several times to earn her first Olympic title during her career.

Uzbekistan’s World Championships bronze medallist Lazizbek Mullojonov and Azerbaijan’s Loren Berto Alfonso eliminated many of the stars of the men’s heavyweight (92kg) and they met each other for the title. Mullojonov had the speed and the quick actions to take the lead on the judges’ scorecards after three minutes of fight and due to Alfonso’s lack of changing in his rhythm, he earned Uzbekistan’s next title in Paris.

China’s World Champion and Asian Games winner Yang Liu had a lucky success over Chinese Taipei’s Chen Nien Chin in the semi-finals and after that she met Algeria’s Imane Khelif in the final of the women’s welterweight (66kg). The Chinese boxer was not enough brave and she looked tired in this Olympic final therefore Imane Khelif delivered a fantastic title for Algeria.

The boxing tournament of the Paris Olympics to be continued with its last competition day in the Roland Garros Arena with four final contests tomorrow evening.
