The registrations are still open for Spain’s next event, the 2nd Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament
The 2nd edition of the Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament will be hosting by the Royal Spanish Boxing Federation in a new venue in the end of next month.
Spain’s next international competition is new on the boxing map, the Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament for the elite and U22 boxers will be held in Mostoles, Madrid on September 23-29 after the historic first edition.
Several of the top boxing nations from the European continent decided to compete in the upcoming 2nd edition in Mostoles but the registrations are still open for all of the National Federations.
The competition was named by Spain’s first ever Olympic medallist, Enrique Rodriguez Cal who claimed bronze medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics and he also had impressive results in the 1st World Boxing Championships and the Mediterranean Games.
The short summary of the 1st edition from 2023
The first Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament was held in Palencia, North Spain and all of the boxers who were born in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 were eligible to participate in the new international event.
Six nations shared the gold medals in Palencia last September where England topped the medal rankings. Wales’ Zoe Andrews and a neutral athlete who trains in Spain, Ewart Marin were named as the best boxers of the tournament.
