The USA Women’s National Championships returned to Lafayette

The 2nd Annual USA Women’s National Boxing Championships was held in Lafayette, Louisiana in the recent days which featured for all of the age groups.

The competition returned to Lafayette which hosted the USA National Olympic Trials on December 4-9 in 2023. The youngest participants boxed at the pee wee age group but these 8, 9 and 10-year-old girls have brilliant technical skills.

The new edition of the USA Women’s National Boxing Championships had four competition days and finished with 25 final bouts in the last session.  

United States qualified eight boxers for Paris but their team claimed only one medal in the recent Olympic Games which was below their expectations.

The World Boxing’s first huge event, the U19 World Boxing Championships will be held in Colorado Springs, United States from October 24 until November 3.

The US female elite boxers competed in nine different weight categories from the light flyweight (48kg) up to the middleweight (75kg) in Lafayette.

Amanda Sendejo won the first elite title in the event after beating Lizzete Ramos by split decision but Mariah Jones also had to do her very best to beat Cherish Love in the next tight elite final.

Noelle Haro had strong pedigree from the recent national events and she returned to Lafayette after the US Olympic Trials. The smart boxer was too quick for Lisa Contreras Polanco in the next elite final and she earned another gold medal.

Diliana Pecheva showed her excellent skills in the recent competitions and she repeated that performance against Casey Dial at the lightweight (60kg) final. Kendra Samargis had a fantastic start against Loane Gill and she was unstoppable for her opponent, taking the title of the elite middleweight (75kg).

Several of their junior boxers impressed in the Nationals including the promising Zion Hensley before a super talented youth boxer, Jayshannet Zapata won the bantamweight (54kg) with a stoppage in the second round.
