Mukhit and Lalthanpuia had the best contest in the ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships on Day1

The countdown has ended, the ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships opened with 24 bouts in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

Al Ain is a historic oasis city in the UAE near to the boarder of Oman and welcomes the best talents from the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 age groups.

Tajikistan’s Dilshod Sidzhayev moved more on feet in the first round than his opponent from Turkmenistan, Ysmail Mollayev at the 35kg weight class. The difference was tiny between them in the opening period when the Tajik took the lead four out of the five scorecards. Sidzhayev used the best angles to land his counter-punches and he had the speed to decide their preliminary contest in Al Ain.

Among the Kazakh boxers, Bekkhan Urazbay enjoyed an easy success over a local boy, Matar Al-Zaabi but his teammate, Nurmakhan Zhumagali had a more difficult bout against Iran’s Pouyan Nouroozi in the opening day of the championships. Zhumagali moved forward in the first and second rounds and he did not make any big mistakes in the third to win this 43kg preliminary contest.

Kazakhstan’s Emir Mukhit attacked from the first seconds against India’s Justin Lalthanpuia and he landed only multiple shots in the opener. The Indian found the best fighting distance in the second part of the first round but Mukhit had a great finish to take the period in each scorecard. Mukhit proved his extraordinary technical skills in his first challenge in Al Ain and he won the best bout of the session.

Ukraine’s Bohdan Smoliak delivered the next surprise in this 49kg weight class, he eliminated the best boxer from the recent Kyrgyz Schoolboys National Championships, Erbol Baratakhunov in one of the tightest contests of the day. The next Ukrainian schoolboy, Matviy Shvaiko used his longer reach well enough against Tajikistan’s Bilol Davlatov and he joined the quarter-finals at the 55kg weight class.
