Pacheco stops Sulecki with powerful liver shot

Diego Pacheco (22-0, 18 KOs) stopped Poland’s Maciel Sulecki (32-3) in round six with a powerful liver shot and thus defended his WBC USA and WBO International super-middleweight title.

Fight was main event of the show promoted by Eddie Hearn on Saturday night in Carson, California.

Pacheco was leading clear on points, but in round six he dropped former world title contender Sulecki with powerful body punch. Sulecki was counted out.

“The body shot and that’s all she wrote,” Pacheco told DAZN’s Chris Mannix of his KO punch. “Honestly, I didn’t even land it that hard so I didn’t think it was going to be over but when I saw him fall I could tell he wasn’t getting up.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn said that he would like to make fight between Pacheco and Jaime Munguia.

In undercard Arturo Popoca (15-0-1) defeated Jesus Arechiga Valdez (22-2) in the fight for WBC Continental Americas super-bantamweight title via split decision. Ginny Fuchs (4-0) won the WBC Interim World super-flyweight title defeating Adelaida Ruiz (16-1-1) via split decision.
