Uzbekistan dominated the junior semi-finals in Al Ain
Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan were the bests in the junior semi-finals at the ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships in Al Ain, UAE on Day9.
Several of the titleholders in the women’s and the men’s part of the junior competition remained their chance alive to earn their second Asian titles.
Kazakhstan’s Aiym Tankibayeva achieved a silver medal at the Asian Junior Championships in Astana and she moved up to the light flyweight (48kg) in the previous months. The Kazakh started the first round relatively slow but she found her best distance in the end of their opener against a technician opponent, Chinese Taipei’s Chen Fang Yu.
Uzbekistan’s Junior World Champion Sevara Mamatova is an ace in their female junior national team and she had the best performance from the second round to beat India’s Shivangi Kachroo in the next excellent semi-final bout.
Uzbekistan’s Khikmatillo Sobirov tried to catch Iran’s Mahdi Rouzbahani in the first round with heavy jabs but his opponent had excellent counter-shots. The Uzbek moved forward, he looked confident in this contest but Rouzbahani’s counter-punches and long distance tactics paid off today.
Uzbekistan’s Bekhruz Kurbonov dictated the tempo against Ukraine’s Danylo Humeniuk in the first round and his quick actions was uncomfortable for his opponent. The Uzbek (52kg) boxer performed better than his Ukrainian rival in the second and third rounds as well winning this semi-final by 4:1 split decision.
Among the best Uzbek juniors, Elyor Rustamov (48kg), Ibrokhim Shokirjonov (54kg), Jakhongir Zaynidinov (57kg), Saidkhuja Sadillakhujayev (60kg), Sukhrob Rakhmatullayev (63kg), Jakhongir Ergashev (80kg) and Islam Salikhov (+80kg) all are finalists.
Kazakhstan’s top finalist will be Yerubay Turlybay who had a dominance against India’s Devansh at the light heavyweight (80kg) which success guaranteed the dream final with Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Ergashev.
