Sam Noakes stops Ceglia, defends EBU European title
Britain’s Sam Noakes (15-0, 14 KOs) defended his EBU European lightweight title. Noakes on Friday night in York Hall stopped Italy’s Gianluca Ceglia (21-5-1) in round eight. Ceglia at the end of round eight had swollen and damaged right eye and informed his corner that he couldn’t continue.
For Noakes was first title defense of EBU European title. He won the title in April this year beating Yvan Mendy of France.
In undercard Masood Abdulah (11-0) won the Commonwealth Boxing Council title in featherweight. He won via unanimous decision against George Stewart.
