Liverpool announced as the host of the 2025 World Boxing Championships and will be held on September 4-14

The first World Boxing Championships will be held for the U19 boxers in Colorado, United States from October 24 until November 3 but the historic Elite World Boxing Championships has been scheduled and announced today.

England’s Liverpool will be the host of the 2025 World Boxing Championships and the date of the event is September 4-14.  

Liverpool hosted the 2005 Cadet World Boxing Championships, the 2008 edition of the European Boxing Championships and the city arranged multi-nations and four-nations international events as well in the past.  

The venue of the 2025 World Boxing Championships will be the M&S Bank Arena which hosted netball, volleyball, gymnastics and golf events as well, additionally the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.

England Boxing, GB Boxing, Liverpool City Council, the M&S Bank Arena and the National Lottery and UK Sport all will support the World Boxing Championships.

Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Bermuda, Bhutan, Brazil, Canada, Cayman Islands, Chinese Taipei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Ecuador, England, Fiji, Finland, French Polynesia, Germany, Honduras, Iceland, India, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mongolia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, South Korea, Suriname, Sweden, Tuvalu, United States, US Virgin Islands and Wales are the current 44 members of World Boxing.

The management of the World Boxing is expecting that its membership will be significantly increased until the start of the 2025 World Boxing Championships next September.

The women’s athletes will be able to compete in 10 weight categories but the exact divisions will be fixed after the World Boxing’s next Congress in November 2024. The elite male boxers will be able to participate also in 10 weight classes in Liverpool.
