Munguia stops Bazinyan in round 10

Jaime Munguia (44-1, 35 KO) stopped Armenian living in Canada, Erik Bazinyan (32-1-1) in round 10 of the fight held on Friday night in Glendale, USA.

For Munguia it was return to winning ways after loss by unanimous decision from Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in the fight for undisputed super-middleweight title in May this year.

The Mexican fighter chipped away at a technically-sound Erik Bazinyan before a devastating left hook and relentless flurry of punches produced a 10th-round knockout.

“It was a fight I had to do intelligently,” Munguia told ESPN via a translator. “He’s strong, he hits hard as well so we had to break him down.”

In co-main event Olympic silver medalist from “Tokyo 2020”, heavyweight Richard Torrez Jr. (11-0, 11 KOs) continued with impressive run. He defeated Joey Dawejko (28-12-4) via DQ. Dawejko was disqualified for losing his mouthpiece multiple times. Referee stopped the contest at 2:02 in round five.
