Dubois sensationally stops Joshua in round five, defends IBF World title

Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) dismantled Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) in front of 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night, and defended IBF World heavyweight title.

27-year-old dropped Joshua four times on the way to the biggest win of his career.

“Are you not entertained?” Dubois said post-fight to huge cheers at Wembley.

“I’m a gladiator. I am a warrior to the bitter end. I want to get to the top level of this sport and reach my potential.”

Joshua was bidding to become three-time world champion and return to the division’s top. But he failed.

Dubois dropped Joshua in first round once, and after that he got control of the fight. He dropped Joshua again in rounds three and four.

In round five Joshua rocked Dubois with a strong right and he continued to attack but was countered by a strong right to the chin and it was all over.

In the co-main event Hamzah Sheeraz (21-0) impressed with a second round victory over Tyler Denny (19-3-3) and added EBU European middleweight title to WBC Silver and Commonwealth titles that he had.

Anthony Cacace (23-1) defeated Josh Warrington (31-4-1) via unanimous decision in the fight for IBO World super-featherweight title. All judges saw Cacace clear as winner. For Warrington this might have been the last fight of the professional career.

Joshua Buatsi (19-0) claimed WBO Interim World light-heavyweight title with a split decision victory over Willy Hutchinson (18-2). Two judges saw him in front (115:110 and 117:108) and one saw Hutchinson as winner (113:112).

Buatsi dropped Hutchinson twice, in round six and nine, and also Hutchinson got a point deduction in round 7 for hitting with head.
