The Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament confirmed the participation of 102 boxers in Mostoles

The Technical Meeting and the Official Draw were held at the 2nd edition of the Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament in Fuenlabrada, one of Madrid’s suburbs today evening.  

Mr. Dragoljub Radovic, the Technical Delegate of the competition, led the meetings today and introduced the general rules, the transportation, the schedule and all of the important competition related matters.

Cuba, England, France, Hungary, IBA neutral, Iceland, Moldova, Montenegro, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, and Wales are the participating 12 teams at the Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament.

The competition was named by Spain’s first ever Olympic medallist, Enrique Rodriguez Cal who claimed bronze medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics and he also had impressive results in the World Boxing Championships and the Mediterranean Games.

The Enrique Rodriguez Cal Memorial Tournament will start with its first session at 4pm in another suburb of Madrid, in Mostoles tomorrow and the teams can participate also at the Opening Ceremony of the competition from 6:30pm.

The first session contains four women and thirteen men contests in Mostoles and some of the promising stars will open their campaigns tomorrow.

England’s international tournament winner Kelsey Oakley will meet Spain’s Marta Lopez in the first contest of the competition which is a preliminary battle at the women’s light flyweight (50kg) where the number of the boxers is 10.

England’s Commonwealth Games competitor Sameenah Toussaint and France’s former Youth World silver medallist Sthelyne Grosy could have an exciting battle in the women’s featherweight (57kg) on Day1.

Spain’s European Champion from 2022, Martin Molina missed the Paris Olympic Games but he decided to continue his career and will now meet England’s new face in the national team, Reece Readshaw at the men’s flyweight (51kg).

Scotland’s 20-year-old promising sensation, Aaron Cullen will meet Spain’s experienced Samuel Carmona in a key contest at the bantamweight (54kg) tomorrow.
