Japan, Mongolia, China and Germany earned titles in Ulaanbaatar

The World Boxing Cup Ulaanbaatar 2024 has finished with its 11 final contests in Mongolia’s capital today where Japan, Mongolia, China and Germany shared the gold medals.

The first final bout was held between Japan’s Asian Champion Rinka Kinoshita and Singapore’s No.1 Danisha Mathialagan at the women’s light flyweight (50kg) in Ulaanbaatar where the first controlled their exchanges today.

Mongolia’s Paris Olympian, Yesugen Oyuntsetseg faced her teammate, Erdenedalai Michidmaa in the final of the women’s bantamweight (54kg) and as expected she worked well enough to beat her rival today.

Japan’s Satsuki Yoshizawa caused one of the main surprises after beating China’s National Champion Ruan Mulan at the women’s featherweight (57kg) while her teammate, Ayaka Taguchi had a tight loss to Mongolia’s Namuun Monkhor at the lightweight (60kg) final.

China has strong traditions at the women’s welterweight (66kg) and their new face in the national team, Li Shu won their first gold medal in Ulaanbaatar where she used her long-range tactics against South Korea’s Choi Hong Eun.

China’s new flag bearer in the men’s national team, Liu Chuang had a tough draw in the Ulaanbaatar Boxing Cup but he won all of his four contests within four competition days including the flyweight (51kg) final against Battulga Aldarkhishig.

Mongolia has fantastic boxers at the men’s featherweight (57kg) and among them the dark horse, Bilgunsaikhan Kharkhuu succeeded against the favourite Dorjnyambuu Ganbold while the World bronze medallist Battumur Misheelt won the light middleweight (71kg).

Japan’s Shion Nishiyama was the next hero of the competition, he also won four hard bouts in the event and he looked still fresh enough against South Korea’s Jang Dong Hwan to take the light welterweight (63.5kg) title.

China’s Halimulati Rehemandu knocked out two opponents in Ulaanbaatar but Japan’s Go Wakaya was smarter in their final while Germany’s Amin Younes Ouachou had the last word in the eleventh final of the event.
