England and Wales won half of the junior titles in La Nucia

The English and the Welsh junior squads impressed in the third competition day at the Boxam Youth-Junior-Schoolboys-Schoolgirls Tournament in La Nucia today.

Georgia’s Shalva Beridze kept his final opponent, Mexico’s Abisai Garcia on long and he won the junior pinweight (46kg) in La Nucia. England’s Alfie Taylor-Satchell has 34 bouts in his career and he had the right tactics against Mexico’s southpaw Oliver Gurrola in the final of the light flyweight (48kg).

Mexico’s Carlos Morales finally succeeded at the flyweight (50kg), he managed to beat Georgia’s Daniel Ramizogli with dominant boxing. A Welsh boy Kayden Wallace had the good strategy against England’s Cruz Rowland and he managed to win the junior light bantamweight (52kg).

Wales’ Tory Hayer used also long-distance tactics as his teammate Wallace, and he defeated a strong Georgian, Beka Okruashvili at the bantamweight (54kg). Spain’s Rodrigo Sanchez controlled all of the three rounds against Bastiaan De Gea and he achieved the title of the featherweight (57kg).

England’s Sonny Hollingsworth used his longer hands against Spain’s Yeray Martinez in the final of the lightweight (60kg) and he bagged a well-deserved gold medal. Spain’s Carlos Sanchez worked well in the first round against France’s Ismael Tami and he increased his speed in the later parts to take the title of the light welterweight (63kg).

Luke Moore is another tall English sensation in their junior national team who faced a Mexican southpaw today, Gustavo Garcia and he proved one of the best performances in the session. Wales’ Sam McCann had a surprise loss to Spain’s Manuel Rafael Nunez at the light middleweight (70kg).

Spain’s Efosa Igvinovia did not land too much punches in his final against Mexico’s Andres Garcia but he was enough effective to win the middleweight (75kg). England’s Tobias Taylor, the European Junior bronze medallist, was quicker than Georgia’s Aleksandr Baladze and his impressive skills decided the light heavyweight (80kg) final.
