Lanzarate, Mdinaridze and Sanchez were the best schoolboys in La Nucia
Aymar Lanzarate, Zaza Mdinaridze and Elijah Sanchez Blake had the best performances in the schoolboy finals at the Boxam Tournament in La Nucia today.
Tunisia’s Moetaz Hammami started better than Spain’s Ismaiel Ezzadini Berrabha in the first bout of the day but his opponent turned back their flyweight (51kg) contest. Romania’s European Junior Champion Fabian Stroe, France’s No.1 Sandro Spica and Colombia’s Daniel Ramirez won the further youth semi-finals on Day3.
Aymar Lanzarate and Antonio Gomez Vidal faced in the first final of the Boxam Tournament and the two schoolboys gave in everything. Lanzarate overcame his compatriot in the attacks and he controlled all of the exchanges to win the title of the 40kg weight class.
Georgia sent strong schoolboys and junior boxers to the Boxam Tournament and their first finalist was Zaza Mdinaridze, their actual National Champion at the 44kg weight category. The Georgian controlled the first and second rounds against Spain’s Mario Hernandez and he claimed the next title in La Nucia.
A Georgian final was held at the schoolboys 50kg weight category, two of their National Champions such as Mate Voloshin and Nikoloz Khizanishvili fought for the gold medal. The Tbilisi-based Voloshin worked from longer range in this final but Khizanishvili’s hand was raised after the last gong.
Spain’s Elijah Sanchez Blake caught his Georgian opponent, Mirian Voloshin with a heavy shot in the end of the first round and he had a tight advantage on the scorecards. Sanchez worked even better in the second round therefore he bagged the next gold medal for Spain in the schoolboys age group.
Georgia’s Teymuraz Pavliashvili landed the better shots than Spain’s Aitor Ibai Gomez and he won the schoolboys 57kg weight category. Romania’s Thomas Sebastian Varan dominated the 60kg final against Mexico’s Ian Salvador Rodriguez while Georgia’s Gor Kazaryan won the 66kg title.
