Amparan, Gutierrez and Perez are the best women’s youth boxers in La Nucia

The women’s youth finals delivered strong Mexican dominance at the Boxam Youth-Junior-Schoolboys-Schoolgirls Tournament in La Nucia but Gutierrez and Perez were also outstanding.

Mexico’s Valeria Amparan competed in a top youth event in Montenegro earlier this year and she controlled all of the exchanges in the first round against Spain’s Claudia Alcaniz. The referee counted the 17-year-old local girl twice and Amparan proved her strength in the first female youth final.

Spain’s Noelia Gutierrez, the European Junior silver medallist, faced her main national rival, Rocio Sanchez in the final of the youth flyweight (52kg). The 18-year-old Gutierrez has been preparing for the upcoming Youth World Boxing Championships and she managed to win this excellent final bout.

A Mexican final was held at the women’s youth bantamweight (54kg), Devany Ramirez and Evelyn Areli Hernandez made a selection bout for the Youth World Boxing Championships in La Nucia. Hernandez is small in this weight class but she had the speed to catch her compatriot and she earned to the title.

Fernanda Isabel Corona competed already in the 2022 Mexican national events and she knew hear teammate, Paula Jazmin Hernandez very well. Corona increased her speed in the beginning of the second round and she knocked down Hernandez in the third which determined her gold medal at the youth lightweight (60kg).

Colombia’s Melanis Perez won the 2023 American Junior Boxing Championships and the 17-year-old boxer quickly involved to their youth national team. Perez landed tough shots in the first minute and after the third standing count, the referee confirmed her RSC triumph at the light middleweight (70kg).

Karla Naomi Hernandez and Lorien Elizabeth Alonso, the two Mexicans fought for the title of the female youth middleweight (75kg) in La Nucia. Alonso shocked her teammate with heavy jabs in the first round when the Spanish referee counted Hernandez twice therefore she managed to take the title in the strong event.
