The first 28 medallists are confirmed in Budva

Twenty-eight medallists are revealed at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro today.

Mexico’s Boxam Tournament winner Valeria Amparan is only 17-year-old but she is the best in their female youth national team. The Mexican had a tough job against China’s Zeng Weimei but she overcame her Asian opponent in the attacks and she won this semi-final which means she will now meet Kazakhstan’s Anel Abdrasilova.

Venezuela’s Genesis Horta shocked her Romanian opponent, Valentina Morosanu and the referee stopped their quarter-final contests in the first round. The South American will be boxing for the final of the bantamweight (54kg) with Russia’s Junior World bronze medallist Diana Sikstus.

Kazakhstan’s Aruzhan Zhangabayeva and Poland’s Kinga Krowka met in the battle of the continental champions already in the quarter-finals of the light welterweight (63kg). The Kazakh had the right strategy against her Polish opponent and she advanced to the semi-finals as DPR Korea’s Pak Sin A, Greece’s Ourania Kantzari and Ireland’s Siofra Lawless.

Azerbaijan’s Bilalkhabasi Nazarov and Cuba’s Angel Sober met in an early final at the men’s minimumweight (48kg) and the first won their tight meeting today. Uzbekistan’s Sayfiddin Sobirov, Kazakhstan’s Dias Berikuly and Morocco’s Othman Chadghour are the further medallists in this weight class.

Kyrgyzstan’s Amantur Dzhumayev claimed medals in his recent four championships and the bantamweight (54kg) boxer advanced to the semi-finals once again. He ruled the quarter-final against Tunisia’s Koussay Dallagi and he will now meet China’s Zhang Hanrui who eliminated Hungary’s Kevin Kozak in a tactical bout.

Kazakhstan’s four-time Asian Champion Torekhan Sabyrkhan is a fantastic boxer and he was confident once again in his quarter-final against Uzbekistan’s Akbar Akhmadov and he is now a medallist. Cuba’s strong David Espinosa, China’s Zhang Haosheng and Mexico’s Juan Flores were the further medallists at the welterweight (67kg).
