Gasimzade and Bandomo won fantastic battles in Budva today

Azerbaijan’s Mahammadali Gasimzade and Spain’s Yolber Daniel Bandomo made world-class performances at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro during the afternoon session.

Romania’s Ramona Mihaela Manea won the first contest in the afternoon session of the eighth competition day, she triumphed over Armenia’s Junior silver medallist Heghine Petrosyan at the women’s light flyweight (50kg).

Kazakhstan’s Yelyanur Turganova won the next important battle against Uzbekistan’s Zilolakhon Yusufova between the two southpaw boxers using her long hands to catch her neighbouring opponent from safest distance.

Russia’s Snezhana Kuznetsova proved a top performance against Poland’s Martyna Koczkodaj in the semi-finals of the flyweight (52kg) which was a superb bout today. The next Russian, the favourite of the welterweight (57kg), Sofia Kulayeva did not land enough punches and suffered an unexpected loss to Turkey’s Pinar Benek.

Spain’s European Youth medallist Noelia Gutierrez was born in a boxing family and she arrived in Budva as a medal favourite. After the first tactical round, the Spaniard calmed down and her punches were more effective from longer distance but surprisingly the Serbian’s finish was enough to win this crucial quarter-final.

Azerbaijan’s Mahammadali Gasimzade and France’s Sandro Spica met in one of the most exciting contests of the afternoon session in Budva. The Azeri lightweight (60kg) boxer slowed down the super talented French and his stopping punches delivered a success for the European Champion.

Spain’s Yolber Daniel Bandomo knocked down Kyrgyzstan’s Asian Youth runner-up Mukhammadaziz Zakirov in the first round and he controlled all of the exchanges at the light heavyweight (80kg) quarter-final. The 17-year-old Spaniard was too strong for the Kyrgyz boxer and he earned at least a bronze medal in Budva.

Bulgaria’s Semion Boldirev used his longer reach against Poland’s Igor Marek Rondos and he secured a medal for his new nation in Budva.
