Schachidov, Scheibe and Putilov started well in the 101st German National Championships

The 101st edition of the German National Boxing Championships started in Halle an der Saale two days ago and the event is the first team selection for the year of 2025.

Altogether 43 women and 99 men boxers are participating in the German Elite National Championships to decide the twenty-one available titles in Halle.

Germany had three qualified boxers in the Paris Olympic Games and their Nelvie Tiafack claimed a bronze medal at the men’s super heavyweight (+92kg).

The Germans have been preparing for the 2025 World Boxing Championships which will be held in Liverpool, England on September 4-14.

Maria Siedaia switched from Ukraine to Germany and the light welterweight (63kg) girl made her first successful step against Leyla Horn before the Youth World silver medallist Carlotta Schuenemann eliminated Michelle Auth at the welterweight (66kg).

The tall Irina Schoenberger achieved a bronze medal at the 2023 European Games and she has 14 years of routine in the national team but she failed to win her first contest. Schoenberger lost to a new face at the women’s middleweight (75kg), Ilvy Scheibe, who represented Germany in a few events this year.

The European bronze medallist and Paris Olympian Magomed Schachidov dominated the first round against Bashar Shech Kheder and his opponent abandoned their light middleweight (71kg) contest in the second.  

Vitalij Walter outpointed Khaled Mezal at the light heavyweight (80kg) while his brother, Valerij also succeeded in the first day of boxing.

Hessen’s heavyweight (92kg) Dzenis Etemovic caused one of the sensations in the first sessions when he eliminated Tyron Amo who competed for Germany at the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

Germany’s European Youth Champion Nikita Putilov is one of the strongest super heavyweight (+92kg) boxers in the whole continent but he had to do his very best against Merveille Binda in their quarter-final.
