The Paris Olympian Magomed Schachidov lost his quarter-final at the German National Championships
The second competition day delivered some surprises at the 101st edition of the German National Boxing Championships started in Halle an der Saale.
Altogether 43 women and 99 men boxers are participating in the German Elite National Championships to decide the twenty-one available titles in Halle.
Ani Manukyan had strong results in the junior and youth age groups and she worked hard from the first seconds to beat Celine Dogan while the fourth favourite of the women’s featherweight (57kg), Lena Buechner, also won her quarter-final in Halle.
Leonie Mueller represented Germany in the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Bangkok, Thailand and she moved back to the light middleweight (70kg) which is the best for her. The 25-year-old Cologne Boxing World Cup winner defeated Theda De Jong Posthumus in the first round of this weight class unanimously.
The 2023 European Games bronze medallist Irina Schoenberger lost to Ilvy Scheibe at the women’s middleweight (75kg) on Day1 but this is a Round Robin category and she worked better against a youngster, Sara Glaeser in the second session.
Nordrhein-Westfalen’s Ali Zamanov switched from Azerbaijan to Germany and he opened his campaign well enough against Mustafa Erakshi at the men’s featherweight (57kg).
Ousainou Hansen and Assan Hansen both are participating at the light welterweight (63.5kg) in Halle and the brothers joined the semi-finals after their victories, but the 20-year-old new sensation, Denis Bril is also in the last four.
The Paris Olympian Magomed Schachidov was confident in the Round of 16 at the men’s light middleweight (71kg) but the 30-year-old top boxer suffered an unexpected loss to Chukwuka Okah-Ezeokeke in the quarter-finals on Day2.
Nikita Putilov had a much stronger performance in the second competition day and the super heavyweight (+92kg) boxer defeated Delil Yazgan, while the Ulaanbaatar Boxing Cup winner Amin Younes Ouachou also dominated his fight today.
