Surace shocks Munguia with a six-round KO

France’s Bruno Surace (26-0-2, 5 KOs) was never considered as serious threat for Mexican superstar and former world champion Jaime Munguia (44-2). In fact, he came up one weight class to face Munguia on Saturday night in Tijuana, Mexico. And Munguia started strongly. He dropped Surace with a powerful left on round two. But Surace managed to get up and he took care for shock of the year in boxing. He KO-d Munguia with powerful right in round six of the fight held in Tijuana on Saturday night and put his name in contention for a major title fight.

“I know that he is an excellent boxer. So, we worked on our counter punches,” Surace said. “He is a true warrior. I want to thank him for the opportunity. This was a big experience for me.”

“Middleweight is my true weight class,” Sarace said. “But we’ll see if [a rematch] can happen.”
