Akhmadaliev defends WBA title, Mosquea new EBU champion

Uzbekistan’s Murodjon Akhmadaliev (13-1, 10 KOs) affirmed his position as WBA mandatory challenger to undisputed champion in super-bantamweight Naoya Inoue, with a stoppage victory in third round over Ricardo Espinoza (30-5). Akmadaliev dropped Espinoza twice in round three of the fight held in Monte Carlo on Saturday night.

After the fight he called out Inoue. But Inoue is supposed to face Australia’s Sam Goodman on January 24.

In co-main event in Monte-Carlo, France’s Leonardo Mosquea (16-0) won the EBU European cruiserweight title. He defeated Cheavon Clarke (10-1) via split decision. Mosquea dropped Clarke once in round one. And in the end two judges saw him as winner (116:112 and 115:112) and one judge saw Clarke as winner (117:113).

Beatriz Ferreira (6-0) of Brazil defended her IBF World lightweight title, defeating via unanimous decision Licia Boudersa of France (23-3-2).

On the same show Maxi Hughes (28-7-2) won via unanimous decision over Gary Cully (18-2).
