Angelo Pena beats Gisu Lee, defends WBO Inter-Continental title
Angelo Pena (11-0, 6 KOs) continued his path towards a fight for world title. Pena on Thursday in Bern, Switzerland, defended his WBO Inter-Continental super-featherweight title, beating South Korea’s, Gisu Lee (12-5, 5 KOs) via unanimous decision.
It was impressive display from Pena, for whom was first title defense.
He was totally in control of the fight. All three judges saw him clearly as winner (100:90, 98:92 and 97:93).
Pena said after the fight that he was having fun and that he is ready for next hurdle. Next will be title defense in April.
It was one of two WBO title fights in the event promoted by promoter Leander Strupler (Swiss Pro Boxing).
In the other title fight Gabriela Timar (13-2) won the WBO International minimum title, defeating via unanimous decision Yoselin Fernandez (15-6) of Venezuela. Two judges gave all rounds to Timar (100:90) and one scored the fight 99:91 also to Timar.
Talented Swiss boxer Felix Meier (2-0, 2 KOs) confirmed the big potential he has with a big KO win over Venezuela’s, Simon Gonzalez (15-8, 13 KOs). Meier KO-d Gonzalez in round two.
Also a fast KO scored other superwelter guy Jerome Haller (8-3). He stopped Hungarian Szabolcz Bekk (1-2) in 29 seconds.
A fight between Meier and Haller is planed next.
In the other fight of event Benoit Huber (10-5) stopped Adnan Deronja (16-10). Deronja decided to retire after four rounds. He got down twice in round three and four and also had two points deduction in round 4.
