Goodman suffers second cut inside a month, Inoue now will fight Ye Joon Kim

Australia’s Sam Goodman (19-0, 8 KOs) had to withdraw from the fight against Naoya Inoue (28-0, 25 KOs) because of the cut he suffered during training on Saturday.

Is the second time inside 30 days that Goodman had to cancel because of cut.

He was supposed to fight Inoue in end of December but fight was rescheduled because of cut. New date was January 24, but Goodman had to cancel again.

No Limit promoter Matt Rose confirmed the news and said his fighter would now have to undergo plastic surgery to prevent the issue from occurring again.

“It’s just devastating,” Rose said for “Fox Sports”. “After everything Sam went through the first time around, and now to have it happen again … I really don’t know what to say.

“There aren’t any words.

“The amount of time everyone has put into this. All the sacrifices Sam has made. It only happened this morning. We’ll now have to try and get him in for plastic surgery in the next 24 hours to have any hope of ensuring this mends”.

“For this to open like it has again, he’s obviously got soft skin there that we need to look at. It’s just devastating.”

Promotion managed to get opponent for Inoue on January 24. Superstar will defend his WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF world super-bantamweight titles against South-Koreas, Ye Joon Kim (21-2-2).
