Pacheco moving closer to a world title fight

Diego Pacheco (23-0, 18 KOs) made another big stride toward a world title fight. 23-year-old defeated on Saturday night in Las Vegas, Steven Nelson (20-1, 16 KOs) via unanimous decision and defended WBC USA and WBO International super-middleweight titles.

All three judges scored the fight 117:111 in favor of Pacheco.

It was main fight in the event organized my Matchroom Boxing.

In co-main event Andy Cruz (5-0, 2 KOs) defeated Omar Salcido Gamez (20-2, 14 KOs) via unanimous decision in the fight for IBF International lightweight title. Judges scored the fight 99:91, 98:92 and 98:92 in favor of Cruz.

Cruz is the Olympic gold medalist from Tokyo 2020 and won three gold medals in World Amateur Championships.

He is aiming to win a world title also in professional ranks.

Ernesto Mercado (17-0, 16 KOs) stopped former world champion Jose Pedraza (29-7-1, 14 KOs) in round four.
