Noelia Gutierrez made a successful elite debut at the Boxam Tournament

Thirty-four bouts featured at the Boxam Tournament in La Nucia, Alicante region in Spain where Spain’s Noelia Gutierrez opened her elite campaign with a victory.

Bangladesh, China, Ecuador, England, Georgia, Hungary, IBA Neutral, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Palestine, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine and Wales are the participating nations.

Spain’s Noelia Gutierrez has just joined the elite age group this January and she started well against Romania’s Roxana Hamza at the women’s light flyweight (50kg).

Slovakia’s Miroslava Jedinakova returned after an injury and she used her height advantage well enough against Spain’s Maria Horche at the lightweight (60kg). Hungary’s Vladislava Kukhta won the next contest in this weight class, she also eliminated a local girl, Ana Isabel Gonzalez.

England’s top future talent, Amber Moss-Birch moved down to the middleweight (75kg) and she used her punching power to beat Spain’s Anastasiya Sokolovska in the quarter-finals.

Ukraine’s Paris Olympian Aider Abduraimov had a tight triumph over Spain’s well-developed Carlos Martinez at the lightweight (60kg) before his teammate, Danylo Zamorylo eliminated Hungary’s Gergely Szaraz. 

Kazakhstan’s newcomers in the squad, such as Baglan Kenzhibek (54kg) and Zhassulan Tileumbek (57kg) opened their campaigns successfully but their Zhandos Kydyraliyev delivered the main sensation with a victory over Spain’s Olympian, Oier Ibarreche at the light welterweight (63.5kg).

Moldova’s Stefan Vozneacovschii progressed a lot in the recent two years and the welterweight (67kg) boxer had the skills to beat Slovakia’s Miroslav Herceg, while Hungary’s Rafael Buza also marched to the quarter-finals with good performance. 

Spain’s Pablo Coy delighted the home crowd with his success against a European bronze medallist from Ukraine, Ivan Sapun. Another strong Spanish boxer, the Tokyo Olympian Gazimagomed Jalidov controlled his opener against his Georgian opponent.
