Pablo Coy defeated one of the top stars at the Boxam Tournament

Spain’s Pablo Coy eliminated one of the top stars of the Boxam Tournament in La Nucia today and he is now a semi-finalist at the light heavyweight (80kg).

England’s Ellis Trowbridge had a tough quarter-final at the men’s flyweight (51kg) but he proved his top performance in the last four against Portugal’s Armenio Reis, winning the bout by unanimous decision. The young English boy will now meet for the gold medal Spain’s 2022 European Champion, Martin Molina.

Ukraine’s Paris Olympian Aider Abduraimov had a busy schedule in this Boxam Tournament but he managed his pathway to the finals of the lightweight (60kg). The 21-year-old Ukrainian enjoys her competition in Spain all the time and he defeated a tough opponent, English’s promising William Hewitt in the last four.

Slovakia’s Adolf Stanek lost to Hungary’s Rafael Buza in one of the previous competitions but he made a revenge today. The Slovakian welterweight (67kg) boxer looked fresh enough against the Hungarian and he will now meet for the title of the Boxam Tournament Kyrgyzstan’s Ikhtiyar Nishonov.

Spain’s Frank Martinez was energetic in his light middleweight (71kg) quarter-final and he had the speed advantage to beat England’s Callum Makin today. Kazakhstan’s duo, Yelnur Suyunbay and Darkhan Duisebay, furthermore England’s Patrick Hewitt advanced to the semi-finals in this weight class.

Ukraine’s former World Champion Yuriy Zakharieiev moved up to the middleweight (75kg) and he had difficulties against Kyrgyzstan’s Asian bronze medallist Nuradin Rustambek Uulu today. Zakharieiev received several punches from the Kyrgyz boxer but he can meet for the gold medal his compatriot, Pavlo Illiusha.

Spain’s Pablo Coy looked sharp in the preliminary stage and he caused the main sensation of the third competition day when he eliminated China’s Asian Games winner Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan. The 24-year-old local light heavyweight (80kg) boxer controlled the first and second rounds well enough to join the semi-finals.
