Trowbridge, Duisebay, Coy and Zhasan were the top winners at the Boxam Tournament

Trowbridge, Duisebay, Coy and Zhasan were the top male winners at the Boxam Tournament in La Nucia today.

One of the biggest boxing stars of the super heavyweight, the Olympic Champion and multiple Professional World Champion Mr. Lennox Lewis visited the finals of the Boxam Tournament as a VIP guest of the event.

Kazakhstan’s Nurzat Ongarov won the first male final in the Boxam, but after that one of the anticipated title contests were on the agenda of the event.

England’s newcomer Ellis Trowbridge landed several right-handed hooks in his final against Spain’s 2022 European Champion Martin Molina and he claimed the title of the men’s flyweight (51kg).

Kazakhstan’s Baglan Kenzhebek (54kg), Yerkhan Turdan (57kg), Biybars Zheksen (60kg) and Almat Abduali (63.5kg) won the next finals in the Boxam Tournament. Kyrgyzstan’s promising Ikhtiyar Nishonov walked over to the gold medal at the welterweight (67kg), reaching his career highlight.

England’s Patrick Hewitt eliminated a Kazakh opponent, Yelnur Suyunbay in the semi-finals and he had to meet another talent from the Central Asian nation, Darkhan Duisebay. The young Englishman stepped into the gas in the second round but Duisebay’s counter-punches were decisive at the light middleweight (71kg) final today.

Spain’s local sensation, Pablo Coy eliminated several stars during his road to the light heavyweight (80kg) final and he was a hard target for England’s Oladimeji Shittu. Both boxers are in developing stage and due to Coy’s fantastic defensive skills, the Spaniard won this superb final bout.

Ukraine’s Danylo Zhasan surprised Spain’s World bronze medallist Gazimagomed Jalidov with his effective punches and he claimed the title of the cruiserweight (86kg). England’s Isaac Okoh was in top shape in the entire event and he had the speed to beat Wales’ surprise, Connor Williams today.

England’s European Youth Champion Damar Thomas closed the last session of the Boxam Tournament with a success at the super heavyweight (+92kg).
