Moldova’s duo, Cherticovtsev and Stratan amazed in the schoolboys’ finals at the Dracula Open Tournament

Moldova’s duo such as Egor Cherticovtsev and Tudor Stratan amazed in the schoolboys finals of the Dracula Open Tournament in Braila, Romania today.

The total number of boxers is 423 in the Dracula Open where three of the age groups are in actions in Braila.

Ukraine’s Marat Velbovets, the Asian Schoolboys Championships competitor, won the first schoolboy final at the Dracula Open, the 13-year-old talent defeated Romania’s Laurentiu Pirvu at the 42kg weight class in Braila.

Ukraine’s next boxer in action was Yevhenii Kovach who shocked Latvia’s Kirils Volosov at the 44kg weight class. The Uzbek referee counted the Latvian boxer twice in the first round and she stopped the final after 75 seconds.

Moldova’s Egor Cherticovtsev is one of the stars of the schoolboy competition and he tried to keep Romania’s Denis Eduard Rosmalin on long. The 14-year-old Moldovan used his longer hands to land his shots and he won his next international tournament.

Ukraine’s Sergey Kotovskiy defeated his teammate, Oleksandr Shchupak at the schoolboys 80kg final bout which was one of the closest contests of the day. Another Ukrainian, Yaroslav Seneiko dominated the 60kg final against a local opponent, Antonio Dobre.

The southpaw Tudor Stratan from Moldova tried to find the best angles against Romania’s Florin Mihai and he worked also from longer range as his teammate, Egor Cherticovtsev. The smaller Moldovan, who achieved bronze at the 2024 European Schoolboys Boxing Championships, won their 50kg final bout.

Greece’s Kaan Bektas looked faster in the exchanges than Ukraine’s Vitaliy Opanasenko in the first round and he proved also his future potential. The Ukrainian adopted the rhythm of the bout and he switched it in time to a higher level to win this 52kg schoolboy final.

Ukraine’s Ivan Vasyliev and Slovakia’s Dominik Sira had the similar physical skills in their schoolboy 54kg final bout. Sira landed the better jabs in the second and third rounds to win this excellent title contest in Braila.
